Release notes

A stuck model stops repeating itself

0.2.0-beta.104 · September 29, 2026

When a model starts repeating the same text, Vortex drops that stream and retries once, with less reasoning when a lower setting exists. If it repeats again, the run pauses. In an SSH workspace, Explorer can download a file to this Mac.

New

  • In an SSH workspace, right-click a file in Explorer and choose Download… to save it on this Mac. A folder does not offer it, and a local file uses Reveal in Finder. A file larger than 8 MB is refused rather than saved short. A remote server from before this release can still download text; binary files ask you to redeploy it.

Fixed

  • A stream that is repeating itself — reasoning, visible text, or tool arguments — is stopped, and that text is not kept. Vortex retries the step once, lowering the reasoning effort when the model has a lower setting, then pauses and asks you to switch models or lower the effort. The timeline says what happened. A sub-agent that gets stuck reports that back to the parent. The same short assistant line on three steps in a row is named back to the model. File contents that repeat on purpose are not treated as a loop. output_loop_guard in config.toml, or VORTEX_OUTPUT_LOOP_GUARD, turns the check off.
  • A two-digit count on an icon badge has a little more room inside the pill.

You describe the work. Vortex plans, edits, verifies, and ships inside your workspace. The editor, terminal, diffs, and browser are how you watch and steer — not where you are expected to write the solution.
