Release notes

The status row says what it's waiting on

0.2.0-beta.123 · October 5, 2026

A turn used to sit on a generic status until the model started writing. The row now names the step — preparing context, connecting a tool, or waiting for the model — and if that step goes quiet it says so.

Fixed

  • Before the first token, the status reads Starting…, Preparing context…, Connecting to a tool…, or Waiting for the model…
  • A step that lasts more than a few seconds adds a one-line explanation: still preparing, waiting for a tool to sign in, or the model hasn't started.
  • If the model goes quiet, the row says how long it has been silent and offers Keep waiting, Stop, and, when a fallback model is set, Try fallback model.
  • Sending a message marks the chat running immediately. If the send fails, the text goes back into the composer and the turn says why it didn't start.
  • Opening a page in the browser pane no longer blanks the view.

Vortex

You describe the work. Vortex plans, edits, verifies, and ships inside your workspace. The editor, terminal, diffs, and browser are how you watch and steer — not where you are expected to write the solution.
