Release notes

A search can run while you keep working

0.2.0-beta.129 · October 7, 2026

A scout, explore, or review agent used to hold the turn until it finished. It now starts and returns immediately, and its report arrives while the parent keeps going. An edit agent is only used when the work splits into two or more independent slices.

New

  • A scout, explore, or review agent starts and returns immediately. The parent keeps working, and the report arrives when the child finishes. The run cannot end while one of those agents is still going.
  • An edit agent is only used when the work splits into two or more independent slices in the same step. One edit agent on its own is refused, and that work stays with the parent.

Fixed

  • The sub-agent card stays running until the child finishes, not when the spawn call returns.
  • A follow-up sent into a running turn keeps the status row under that message.
  • A child is told which files the parent already read, so it does not search for them again.
Older release Quitting no longer crashes

Vortex

You describe the work. Vortex plans, edits, verifies, and ships inside your workspace. The editor, terminal, diffs, and browser are how you watch and steer — not where you are expected to write the solution.
