Compaction stays on the step

• Compaction is a row on the step where it happened. While it runs, the row says what it is doing. When the next step starts, it reads Compacted context or Trimmed context, with how long it took. Later messages continue below that row.
• A model that can return several tool calls in one reply is asked to. A model that rejects that request is retried without it.
• vortex stats also prints sub-agent runs in the same window: how many, prompt size, tools per step, and time to first token.

Fixed

• The agent no longer treats its context as a reason to stop or weaken a check. Older steps are summarized by the runtime, and the prompt tells the model not to plan around context size.
• A tool argument sent as text is read as a list or object when that is what the tool expects. Broken text is reported, with where it failed, instead of being ignored. A plan with no tasks is refused, instead of being saved with nothing to track.
• A count on a full-height icon button sits on the icon, so the badge is not clipped by the strip.
• A chat running in the background keeps its closing sentence on the answer that was streaming, even when a tool row landed after it.
• An edit sub-agent is used only when the work splits into two or more independent slices started together. A single job stays on the parent, which also keeps tree-wide checks and the commit.
