Release notes
The local database stays yours
Vortex now versions its database. An older app leaves a newer database in place and asks you to update, instead of rewriting it. Settings can compact the file when nothing is running, and a chat is no longer saved again on every streamed token.
New
- Settings → General → Diagnostics & feedback → Compact database rewrites the local database to reclaim space. It stays unavailable while an agent run is active.
Fixed
- Opening a database written by a newer Vortex leaves the file in place and tells you to update.
- Renaming, pinning, archiving, or marking a chat unread stays put. A later save of the chat no longer overwrites those.
- The chat is saved when you send a message or change its lane, not on every streamed token. Messages the run already sealed stay in the database.
- Database work for fleet, session status, and sealed messages no longer holds up the agent runtime. A trace batch that cannot be stored reports the error instead of dropping it.
- On the first launch after this update, old trace noise — heartbeats, live token streams, and tool images — is trimmed in the background. Run history counts are stored on the run and filled in from the traces you already have.
